Lease agreement addendum

In case land is for sale, but because of foreign ownership restrictions a land lease agreement is created between the seller and the foreigner, an addendum is often used to transfer additional rights to the foreigner. The addendum specifies among others:

• right to transfer the land to freehold
• possession of the title deed
• payment of renewal periods
• the right to transfer leasehold to freehold

Previously such arrangements were made directly in the lease agreement, however, due to stricter land office regulations, such arrangement are now taken out of the lease agreement and made by a separate addendum.
