Mutual-consent (Amphur) divorce: final upon registration. The registrar issues the Kor Ror 7divorce certificate and your civil-status record updates immediately.
Court divorce: final when the judgment is final (after appeals or by consent judgment). Then bring the judgment to the district office to register the divorce and obtain Kor Ror 7.
What changes once it’s final
Remarriage: legally possible once final (and registered, for court divorces).
Names & IDs: update surname, Thai ID, passport, banking/insurance records.
Property & debts: follow the registered agreement (Amphur) or the court judgment.
Children: custody/parental power & child support follow your agreement or court order; courts may later adjust for the child’s best interests.
Use abroad: get a certified translation and consular legalization (Thai MFA → destination embassy).
Tip: If you settled in court (mediation), ask for a consent judgment; once final and registered, it has the same effect as any court divorce and is easier to enforce.
